Originally engraved by George Edwards in his works A Natural History of Uncommon Birds and Gleanings of Natural History Michael Seligmann re-engraved the plates and combined it with Catesbys work A Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands translating the names into German and adding some figures and plants not present in the originals.

This print showcases "The Indian Bee-Eater, 1749-73" a beautifully colored engraving by George Edwards. The artwork is part of a private collection and depicts the stunning bird known as the Indian Bee-Eater. Originally engraved by George Edwards in his works on uncommon birds, this particular version was re-engraved by Michael Seligmann, a German engraver and art dealer from Nuremberg. Seligmann combined Edwards' plates with the work of Mark Catesby's "A Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands". In doing so, he translated the names into German and added additional figures and plants not present in the original engravings. The image captures the essence of nature's beauty through its intricate details and vibrant colors. The Indian Bee-Eater stands out with its long slender tail feathers adorned with two distinct markings. Its graceful presence is further enhanced by delicate illustrations of surrounding flora.
