This print captures a moment of skilled craftsmanship in the heart of London's City. The image showcases a worker meticulously moulding lead flashing around a window frame on the west side of Thames House, as part of the renowned Vintners Place development. The renovation project aimed to preserve and incorporate the historic Queen Street Place facade into the modern design, while demolishing the rear section of Thames House. As seen in this photograph, attention to detail was paramount, with every tile and slate carefully placed to restore this architectural gem. The mansard roof on display here is a testament to timeless construction techniques that have stood the test of time. It serves as a reminder that even amidst progress and innovation, traditional craftsmanship remains invaluable. In this snapshot from the 1990s, we witness not only an individual at work but also glimpse into an era where dedication and skill were celebrated in every aspect of construction. This image encapsulates both history and progress - it tells a story about preserving heritage while embracing contemporary needs.
