The Duke of Edinburghs stag night, Menu - the menu shows the Dukes Signature too.
Prince Philips stag night was a private dinner the groom enjoyed a few days earlier with some of his closest friends.
Now, however, a menu and seating plan from the event, at the Belfry Club on November 14, has revealed how Philip Mountbatten, then 26, celebrated one of his last nights as a bachelor.
The menu, illustrated by artist Feliks Topolski, who was a guest, is entitled " Dinner to Distant Country Member Lieut. Philip Mountbatten, Royal Navy, who is to be married on 20th November 1947". It shows the 25 men present dined on foie gras, turtle soup, mixed grill and crepes suzette.
Guests included society snapper Baron Nahum, the Marquess of Milford Haven - best man at the wedding - journalist Philip Youngman Carter, who became editor of Tatler and painter Vasco Lazzolo.
The Belfry menu also features a verse by Dr Samuel Johnson about marriage: " Marriage is the best state for a man in general; and every man is a worse man in proportion as he is unfit for the married state..."
