Former pupils and staff of Leamington College for Boys turned up in force for a trip down
Former pupils and staff of Leamington College for Boys turned up in force for a trip down memory lane. The get-together at the former college, now a centre for sixth-form comprehensive studies, marked the launching of a book on the history of what was for generations a leading boys grammar school. Several hundred old boys and former staff swopped stories and toured the classrooms, reviving boyhood memories. Former headmaster, Fred Williamson, who edited the history, which he described as " very much a team effort, " said it was an outstandingly successful day. The response had matched all expectations. They had been particularly pleased to welcome one of the colleges best-known former pupils, actor Norman Painting (Phil Archer in the radio serial The Archers), who had written an introduction to the history. Our photograph shows Mr Williamson (left) and Mr Painting signing copies of the book.
