The boat house at York House was built in around 1900 by the Duc d Orleans. In 1924 it was leased to the Twickenham Yacht Club. The club was founded in 1897 and was originally known as The Swan Sailing Club, later the Twickenham Sailing Club. A mezzanine floor and balcony were added to the boat house in 2013
