Three young women dancing art nouveau 1897
Art Nouveau is an international style of art, architecture, and applied art, especially the decorative arts, known in different languages by different names: Jugendstil in German, Stile Liberty in Italian, Modernisme catala in Catalan, etc. In English it is also known as the Modern Style. The style was most popular between 1890 and 1910 during the Belle Epoque period that ended with the start of World War I in 1914.

This print captures the essence of the Art Nouveau movement in 1897. Three young women are depicted gracefully dancing, their movements reflecting the fluidity and elegance characteristic of this international style. Art Nouveau, known by various names such as Jugendstil, Stile Liberty, and Modernisme catala, was a popular artistic movement during the Belle Epoque period from 1890 to 1910. It encompassed art, architecture, and applied arts with its distinctive decorative elements. The photograph is an original edition sourced from Grafissimo's archives. The image showcases the intricate details that were prevalent in Art Nouveau designs - from flowing lines to organic motifs inspired by nature. These elements can be seen not only in the dancers' poses but also in their costumes adorned with floral patterns. As we admire this snapshot frozen in time, it serves as a reminder of a bygone era filled with creativity and innovation. The Art Nouveau movement left an indelible mark on history before being overshadowed by World War I's outbreak in 1914. This print offers us a glimpse into the past while celebrating the enduring beauty of Art Nouveau – a testament to its lasting impact on art history.
