Art Nouveau is an international style of art, architecture, and applied art, especially the decorative arts, known in different languages by different names: Jugendstil in German, Stile Liberty in Italian, Modernisme catala in Catalan, etc. In English it is also known as the Modern Style. The style was most popular between 1890 and 1910 during the Belle Epoque period that ended with the start of World War I in 1914.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the enchanting world of circus performers in the late 19th century. The group of talented artists, adorned with intricate costumes and exuding an air of mystery, stand alongside their awe-inspiring animal companions. This art nouveau masterpiece, dating back to 1897, beautifully captures the essence of this international artistic movement. Art Nouveau, known by various names across different languages, was a style that flourished during the Belle Epoque period from 1890 to 1910. It encompassed not only visual arts but also architecture and applied arts. This particular print showcases the exquisite decorative elements characteristic of Art Nouveau design. The performers' graceful poses are complemented by ornate details inspired by nature – flowing lines reminiscent of vines and flowers intertwine throughout the composition. As we gaze upon this remarkable piece, we can't help but be transported to a time when circuses were filled with wonderment and amazement. It serves as a testament to both the enduring allure of Art Nouveau and our fascination with these extraordinary entertainers who captivated audiences over a century ago.
