This hand-coloured aquatint depicts the wreck of the East Indiaman 'Lady Burgess'. She made her first voyage in March 1800 and on April 21st 1806 was wrecked on Leytons Rock, south west of the Island of Bonavista, in the course of her fourth voyage bound for Madras and Bengal. The ship is shown dismasted and listing to port in high seas, with her crew and passengers abandoning ship.
