EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to the picturesque landscape of Cornwall in 1827. The artwork, titled "Cornwall - Kilkhampton - Stowe" was created by John Buckler, a renowned artist from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Measuring at 39.4x25.4 cm, this watercolor on paper masterpiece is housed in The William Salt Library in Stafford, UK. The painting showcases a mesmerizing south-east view of Stowe near Kilkhampton, once the cherished seat of the Grenville Family. Believed to have been constructed by Sir Beville Grenville's eldest son during Charles II's reign, this magnificent three-story house stood tall until its unfortunate demolition in the early 18th century. Nestled amidst rolling hills overlooking the vast sea, Stowe boasts an elegant red-brick exterior with accompanying outbuildings that add charm to its grandeur. Enclosed within its walls are meticulously manicured formal gardens and what appears to be a round building—possibly a dove-cot—adding further allure to this enchanting estate. As we explore this idyllic scene captured by Buckler's skilled hand, we notice graceful deer gracefully roaming through fields surrounding the house—a testament to nature's harmonious presence alongside human habitation. This print transports us back in time and allows us to appreciate both the architectural wonders and natural beauty that once graced Cornwall's landscapes—an exquisite piece of history preserved for generations to
