Titled "Virgin and Child with Saints" this small altarpiece is a testament to Berlinghiero's mastery of tempera and gold on poplar panel. The altarpiece consists of three panels that can be folded, making it easily transportable for domestic interiors or private chapels. At its center, we see the Virgin Mary tenderly cradling baby Jesus. Surrounding them are various saints depicted in intricate detail. On the left side, Saint Andrew is shown crucified, accompanied by St. Francis and St. Paul below him. On the right side, Christ is portrayed with instruments symbolizing his Passion, while St. Stephen and St. Lawrence stand beneath. Berlinghiero's artistic style reflects influences from Byzantine painting which had spread to Italy during the Middle Ages.
