The Kirkleatham Centrepiece, 1731-32 (silver) is a stunning example of Georgian silverware crafted by the renowned Huguenot goldsmiths David Willaume and Anne Tanqueray. This exquisite piece, now housed in Leeds Museums and Art Galleries at Temple Newsam House in the UK, showcases their exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. The centrepiece features a central tureen with detachable branches for four elegant candlesticks, six casters (two large and four smaller), four glass silver-mounted cruets, and four small dishes. It was commissioned by Cholmley Turner of Kirkleatham, MP for York, who had his arms engraved on the dishes and his crest adorning the detachable pieces. This magnificent table setting captures the opulence of Georgian dining culture. Its intricate design reflects both the artistic skill of its creators and the grandeur associated with formal dinner services during this period.
