Print inscribed, This Print representing the East India Ship Vernon, Geo Denny Commander, on her voyage out, fitted with a Steam Engine of 30 horse power, passing HM ships Edinburgh and Blenheim, 74s, beating down Channel on the 21st of September 1839 off Benbridge [sic], Isle of Wight...'. The ship is Green's Vernon of 1838. This print from an original painting by John Lynn (see BHC3686) shows her with her original auxiliary paddles, later removed. See also PAJ2634, another copy (illustrated), PAH9327 and PAH9330. Her sister ship, Earl of Hardwick (see PAH9320) was also originally fitted with paddles. This print is stored in a mount with another copy (PAI6594) in the NMM collection. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees!
