PRX11962591 Study of Stoats in Birch Forest (litho) by Verneuil, Maurice Pillard (1869-1942); Private Collection; (add.info.: The naturalistic depiction shows three stoats in different poses against a background of stylized birch trunks. The animals are precisely rendered in their characteristic golden-brown summer coat with white underside, while their supple postures emphasize the agility and liveliness of these animals. The composition is held in muted earth tones, with the striking black and white birch trunks forming an effective contrast to the golden animal bodies and the lush green of the vegetation. The representation combines scientific accuracy with decorative stylization. By Maurice Pillard Verneuil (1869-1942). From L'Animal dans la Décoration par M. P. Verneuil.
