3124970 The blessing Savior in the clouds by Ghirlandaio, Domenico (1449-94); (add.info.: The blessing Savior in the clouds, at the bottom left the Saints Romuald and Benedict, and a praying monk as benefactor, on the right the Saints Attinia and Greciniana. First draft to the Romuald altarpiece (1492), which was formerly in S. Giusto outside Volterra, today, however, in the gallery to Volterra, in the Palazzo dei Priori. The drawing shows only the first idea, because the painting contains significant changes. So the two holy virgins knee between St. Romuald and St. Benedict while they are each paired together in the sketch. At the bottom of the predella sketch various saints are indicated, which are situated around a central figure. Below traces of a cut signature. Pen drawing, washed.

Der segnende Heiland in den Wolken, unten links die Heiligen Romuald und Benedikt, sowie ein betender MAonch als Stifter, rechts die Heiligen Attinia und Greciniana. Erster Entwurf zu dem Romuald-Altarbild (1492), das ehemals in S. Giusto auserhalb Volterra war, heute sich aber in der Galerie zu Volterra, im Palazzo dei Priori, befindet. Die Zeichnung zeigt nur die erste Idee, denn das GemAalde enthAalt wesentliche VerAanderungen. So knien daselbst die beiden heiligen Jungfrauen zwischen St. Romuald und St. Benedikt, wAahrend sie in der Skizze je paarweise beieinander stehen. Unten auf dem Predellenentwurf sind verschiedene Heilige angedeutet, welche sich um eine Mittelfigur reihen. Darunter Spuren einer abgeschnittenen Schrift. Federzeichnung, laviert.

Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass).
